I used a 2x4 piece of aluminum across the top & front of my roll bar to mount my cb. then I just put my fishing poles on top with the handles above the aluminum 2x4. 5'6'' poles fit my 2 door perfect (with the top on). they slide a little bit, i'm thinking about getting the rod holders they use on bass boats (velcro) so they don't slide around.

I'd love to see a picture of that mount! I don't have a CB yet, but I was thinking of something along those lines.

I was also thinking of the same velcro holders, but since they're made for at least 4 rods, it seemed like a waste. Here's my plan.....

I've got some nylon straps with metal buckles, 3/4" wide. The plan is to cut those to length so they wraps around the sound bar, one on each side of the dome light. There will be a piece of velcro on the tag end of the straps so they don't flap. For the rod tips, I've got some vinyl tubing that I'll cut in 2" strips then have my sister sew two of them side by side into some duck cloth so that form a solid method to squeeze the rods. From there, I'll have her put an elastic strap with velcro to keep it squeezed together. This part should be about a $6 investment, so the entire thing will be under $10.

Since the picture was taken, I've changed the PVC to thick wall so the clamps hold it tighter. The only other thing to do is to paint the braket and tubes. It worked great with the bungees, though. No rattles, no shifting, didn't get into my line of sight.

Berkley sells a Rod Holder for $9.95. I just bought one in Gander Mountain. I am going to mount the reel end on the rear roll cage and the snap in end just behind the middle light. I like the pvc idea, but i"m going to keep the reels toward the back. This holder hold 6 rods.

i haven't taken any pics yet but i took the girls fishing yesterday and i put 4 poles on the passenger side, i could've put more and then there's the driver side. i guess you could get some strips of velcro and wrap them up against the roll bar front and rear and they wouldn't move around. with the top on i'm not worried about it but that's probably what i'll do (velcro) with the top off. only caught two little largemouth but they were on top water baits so that was fun i'll try to get some pics if you still want them.

Well, i am about to take my annual fishing trip to Oklahoma, and this will be my first with the jeep. I had to come up with a way to transport my fishing polls, and this is what i came up with. Velcro strips have become my best friend. LOL. I think it will work, polls will be out of the way, and there will be no bend or pressure on the polls. What do you guys think? I know it looks hill billy, but for $10 it should work for me.
