Default Easy and Free Garage Door Opener Placement

I bought my first Jeep, a 4-door Rescue Green, in June of '07 (she is my Warthog, named after the military vehicle from the Halo video game). I placed my garage door opener in the little slot under the steering wheel within days of bringing her home, and have really liked the fit. In fact, anytime I drive another vehicle I automatically look under the steering wheel for the GDO. The GDO has the clip used for attaching to a flip-down mirror, which slides down through the slot (with a little effort to clear the angle). Once there, it pretty well sits in place and does not interfere with the steering tilt.

I thought I might share this trick with everyone, as i have using all your posts to mod my Warthog a lot over the last few months.

too easily seen/found by prying eyes or a thief.

I have mine hidden behind the roll bar padding...you can't see it yet you can still push the button if you know where the remote is.

I have mine in the roolbar padding also. Right above my head, undid the Velcro and slipped it in. Very convenient and no one can see it.

First mod I did trace it and cut the foam away under the roll bar padding

understandable if you don't have a garage spot for your JK. Mine stays locked up most of the time (work from home), so thievery is not a big concern.

Mine behind roll bar. Push the flag over the sweet spot! So simple...

I put mine behind the plastic in the A pillar and used velcro to attach it to the back of the plastic. It is positioned so that the button is flush with the hole and is able to be pushed through the hole. Its not seen unless you are looking there or know its there.

Genius. I like all the ideas. I did not like leaving mine on the visor with no top or doors.

I like the idea behind the roll bar, I have mine clipped to the 4wd shifter.
