I drilled, but nothing came out. Its still cold here, so I'm hoping thats just it...I drill though the plastic, then space, then I hit something (didnt drill into that, I was careful)...

did others 'hit' something with your drill bit? or did I not drill in the right spot...trust me, I've used a drill before...

Has anyone slipped and scratched their paint yet?

After drilling mine, I thought what a waste of time it was bringing the drill out. I should've just brought out a pencil and jabbed it through the mirror housing. Soft plastic everywhere.

Default No more streaked doors after car wash

I drilled mine today. Just after a car wash. Works great.

I drilled a little lower, about 1/8" abover the inner ring.
Figured I could get away with that because of the upward angle.
I steadied myself with my left hand on the upper door hinge.
Kind've like lining up a pool shot. Easy to control the depth
this way.

I made the hole a little right of center on the driver's side,
and a little left of center on the passenger side.
This was indicated by the stream of water dripping down
between the mirror mount and the door. Seemed like
that was the low spot for maximum drainage.

This was quick and easy and I am NOT as mechanically
inclined as most guys on here.

Thank you Rubimon!

Just pour some water in your mirror and see if it comes out. Also, it takes literally 2 minutes to take the mirror off from the inside of the door. Two torx screws. Thats the best way to tell what you have done if you're worried.

You are quite welcome. Glad I could be part of such an intense mod!

It felt good didn't it! Now you're thinking where else can I drill something? I have had my eye on those 7 little plastic troughs below the grill that I have to splash the water out of when I clean my Jeep. Tempting, tempting.

So I think when I finally get a JK I'll just go to the dealer with a Dewalt & 3/32 bit so as soon as I'm done signing I can go out and drill my mirrors..... you know, so I can be sure I never get water in my doors by doing this mod early.
And to see the reaction of the salesman.
