Did mine last weekend. Works great. I had a lot of mud in there, so I had to spray the hose to clean it out for a couple of minutes before id freed up and started "peeing!" Thanks for the write up! The little things are amazing...

How would I know if I have to do this? I haven't heard any sloshing around on my 2011.

Default Does this apply to a 2012 Rubicon?

Does this mod apply to a week old 2012 Rubicon with power/heated mirrors? Rain is in the forecast for tonight :(

On my 2011, I did my mirrors as soon as I got home from the dealership.
you will be surprised at how much water gets inside there even with the factory seals on the mirrors.
If I remember correctly I read somewhere that Jeep had started putting a small groove in the base so water would have a way to get out but the hole they have is just too small. Drilling the mirrors is just a cheap, free, easy way to get any water out of the base so you don't end up with those drip line running down the door whenever you wash or it rains.

No power mirrors, just be light handed and let go of the trigger when through. Its just plastic, drill lightly.....don't be scared!!!

I just did this. Used the smallest bit I had and you can't even see the holes. Threw some cups of water around the mirrors and they drained perfectly. Thanks everyone!
