Hey, that's a great point!

Was hesitant at first, but drilled after washing car a couple of days ago and the stream started running! Glad I finally did it! Thanks for the info!

well after readin 9 pages of drilling the mirrors I just grabbed the 18volt drill 3 3/32 drill bit attached, marched right out to my week old JK and put the tip to the mirror. That's when she scared the heck out of me by making me think "what if I slip? What if I go to deep and scratch something? Took a deep breath went as slow as I could and BAM we struck water, drained for about 15 seconds on the drivers side about 30 on passengers.
Thanks for the tip this is an awesome freebie mod

I would go nuts after getting the car waxed and washed and everything perfect and then I see a stream going off the sides! I drilled the small hole very low so all the water could come out faster. I even carry one of those drying cloths so after I have it washed and drive it I wipe the little that is left. My OCD at 110%!!!

Very necessary mod. DON'T HESITATE! JUST DRILL!

I took this a step further and drilled a second hole on the leading edge face of each mount. Now I have a RAM air affect to blow the water out after her Saturday morning bath. After a wash, jump on the freeway at 70mph and you get both a blowdry and a purge.

Decided not to drill and try removing mirrors and cutting out the lower seal section. Worked great. Total time for both mirrors - 8 min. - Takes longer than drilling

Even though the '09s have the notch, the foam covers it and there was that white build-up from the oxidized aluminium. Drilled and removed a little foam.
