My first modification and water is draining, of course it is raining as well. I know high risk, expensive. I really put my self out there.

You are a man who lives on the edge! In all honesty, I think we'll be glad we did it when other peoples doors are rusting out.

Hey Rubimon, just wondering, is there steel right behind where you drilled that hole? Just curious if I have to worry about going to deep and hitting the steel of the door.

Thanks

Well the mirror bumps out a little so you have a 1/4" or so of dead space. The mirror is plastic and drills real easy. so go slow dont, push real hard, and it is not a problem. I bet you could almost drill it with a drill bit by just twisting it in with your fingers.

Rubimon: Great thinking with the mirror drilling - sounds like a well-thought out and necessary "mod." When my JK arrives, I plan on doing the same (sounds perfectly logical, and if I hadn't been reading everyone's posts about the little "nuisances" they've had with their Jeeps, I would be surprised that DCX didn't come up with something similar). Again, good job.

Question, though: Have you experienced any sort of whistling from the drill hole at speed (highway)? I only ask becase side mirrors in general are a known source of wind noise in many vehicles, and I'm wondering if having a little hole for air to run into makes any sort of high-pitched squeal... I would imagine someone would have mentioned that if it was a problem, but figured I'd ask anyhow.

Thanks all.

It does, but only dogs can hear it, it makes them chase you.
