I just filed the notch at the bottom of the mirror a little bigger and cut a v at the bottom of the gasket that way it still looks factory.

Just got done drilling my mirrors. Great idea. I was a little hesitant on drilling into my brand new rig but it IS worth it. Took my time, took the mirrors off first and started the hole by hand with a 3/32 bit. Whole thing took about 10-15 minutes (including staring time). Looks sharp and you'd think it came from the factory. Hey, it even works too!

Drilled mine today AND trimmed the gasket. There was a ton of corrosion on the alum inside the mirror (removed from Jeep cause I suck at drilling  Took the time to brush that out while I had them off.

I have a quick question. I took my mirrors off to drill them. I noticed that my mirrors had a small "V" in the bottom where the water normally leaks out.

Is this a new version mirror or are they all like this? My mirrors weep for a little while after I wash, but not days. I have a 2008 Wrangler.

No, I have an 07 and I also have the V in the bottom. I think that the V is just a little bit too small and needs to be enlarged and/or drill an extra hole.

Well I may be wrong, but don't sealed places always need two holes to drain? You know, one as a drain hole, and one for air to get in, since draining water creates a vacuum inside a sealed unit. I think that built in V-notch was meant as a drain hole...but for whatever reason they forgot an air hole. Just an observation that struck me since you mentioned the pre-existing notch.

Just drill the hole and watch it peee!

If you have a guy jeep you need to drill. If your Jeep is a girl, just notch the gasket and let the water run down her leg!
