Just made the holes - took about 30 seconds total! No water came out...but maybe that's because it hasn't rained since I got the Jeep 3 weeks ago!

Thanks for the mod tip!

My wife saw me drilling into the side of my jeep and started freaking out. She just couldn't understand why I was taking a drill to a brand new jeep. As I was trying to explain to her she just shook her head and said "I think you have inhaled too much JP-8 fumes at work."

O well

Wow that was a lot of posts to read...........

I love free mods. I did a ton of them on my 05 Rubicon SWB.

I'll be drilling holes as soon as my wife comes home long enough to let me run out to the garage and get the drill..

She hated the 05. I came home with the JK on Wednesday night last week and I can't get her to drive her own car any more (08 Miata PRHT).

I want to do mods............... oh yea I did buy a decal a few minutes ago...

Default Why drill the mirrors?

I took my mirrors off and saw no reason to drill the case. Just trim the foam gasket so the water can run out.
I cut mine a little wider and with a new razor.
I did not take my mirror off the door. Just pop the mirror off and pull the outer cover off. You can do the mod without removing the mirror base from the door.

This is not my picture(but shows the mod) He took the mirror off the door.

Cut a small notch out of the foam gasket so the water can drain out. Works great for me and no hole in the mirror.

Any reason to go play with power tools and Jeeps is a winner.
