I don't see the point in drilling into the plastic at all.

As several others mentioned in this thread, I just took them off and cut the gasket away from the weep hole that is already formed into the unit.

Works as it was designed to.

Well, I'm 50 years old, so I can relate.

But regarding the mirrors ... mine seems to drain fine through the weep notch now that the gasket isn't blocking it.
Mileage varies, I guess.

I drilled mine and it works like a charm. The slow dribble was annoying and now, holy cow, the things do piss! Ha!

I finally drilled mine too. I have only washed mine one time since I took delivery in late August 07 and it only rains about every three or four months down here in "North Mexico" but this was just too sensible and too easy to not do.

I agree with Splash. It doesn't make sense to drill into the plastic now that we know the interior design flaw. It took me less than 10 minutes to remove both mirrors, cut a "V" into each gasket right over the pre-existing weep hole, and reattach the mirrors.

A gasket with a v-notch is not a gasket!

I don't see why all these 2008ers are coming in here stirring the pot and challenging the Rubimon side view mirror mod.
