They were from the 2010 Challenger(5081670AB) I believe ...so that would be the ones you would order(Dodge). Go back to the first page ..Blade tells you which ones...when I ordered them there was only the one source that came up ..when checking it just now I got the same results as you. Maybe they added the Chrysler and Jeep because they are aware now that they fit (minus the tab modification to grill) .

I went to lunch with my friend Rick in his 2010 Challenger R/T and loved the sound of his Radio. So I went to digging and found that they were Boston Accoustics and then Just gave it a shot. Since then he has updated to a 2012 Challenger SRT and we are in the process of putting the Bostons in it. For some reason they stopped using them in the Challenger. I think they are using Harmon Karden now but it sounds nothing like the Boston's. Thanks for the support man.

Any update on the sub switch? Man I hope it works out.

Installed Kicker HS8 powered sub under rear seat (smaller on driver's side in my JKU). Boomin' sound. 1000% improvement over stock SW. And removable/movable if I need to have both rear seats down. Lovin' it.

Would you mind posting some pictures, please? Looking at doing something under the rear seat as well.

How much improvement do you think the poly fill adds?

I think it adds a big improvement. I think I'm getting more bass out of the Boston's with the Polly fill than I was without Polly fill. It only costs $3.56 at Walmart for a big ol bag of it. So even if you don't think it is much better than it was before lily fill, you only wasted the cost of a happy meal. :-)

Good luck!

bburry 01-09-2013 04:42 AM

How tightly are you packing it in. And did you use in soundbar and fronts?

Installed this weekend. Very easy. What a difference. Cannot thank Blade enough for this.

Are you referring to the change in speakers, stuffing the speakers, or both?

bburry 01-15-2013 09:26 AM

Changed all four speakers and I did polyfill from an old pillow. Cannot believe the difference.

DudeManBro 01-15-2013 11:02 AM

Question:
Are folks replacing the Jeep Front L + R with the corresponding Front L + R from the Challenger and vice versa for the rears? It looks like people are replacing the jeep Front L + R with the Rears from the Challenger. Just curious if the front and rears on the Challenger are both identical speaker models?? or if it would make a difference. Has anyone tried replacing the jeep tweeters with the Challenger tweeters?

They're all identical. As far as the tweeters, I'm not sure.

First I stuffed my soundbar with a full bag of polyfill from the craft store then I bought some Kenwood 6.5s from Crutchfield with free adapters. The sound was clearer but lost volume, so I returned them, no hassle. Then I got the Mopar Boston Acoustics. They are a better speaker than the stock, larger magnet, better overall build and the sound is clearer. I haven't done the fronts yet. The soundbar definitely suffers from reduced power from the head unit. The polyfill helps with a fuller sound.

I may be crazy, I just traded my 12 Sahara in for a 13 Sahara. I swear the 12 Infinity sounded crispy and I was very happy with it. This Alpine sounds like dog shit. speakers bottom out and distort when turned up.

I will be swapping speakers and doing this mod ASAP.

Samuno 01-17-2013 10:31 PM

You won't be disappointed. I was skeptical having aftermarket speakers in all my vehicles for the last 20 years but am definitely happy with these. I do want to upgrade the weak sub though.

DudeManBro 01-19-2013 08:54 PM

Puddles, after having a 2012 and recently getting a 2013 and listening to the alpine for a month I have to agree with you. The infinity sounded better. The difference is most noticeable for me when i make phone calls. The sound when using the phone is awful and almost inaudible because it is so muffled. Never had this prob with the infinity. The alpine also distorts much faster when turning up the volume or adjusting the eq. Overall has a rougher, less defined sound than the infinity. The bass from the sub sounds a little deeper but there isnt much impact when a strong drum hit happens or a hard beat from a rap song. Im planning on doing this boston speaker swap based on the feedback from this thread and hopefully that will make a difference for me too.

I replaced all for 6.5 inch speakers...I.e.mlower front dash and sound bar. I did not touch the tweeters. Again, I'm surprisingly impressed out how good they sound switched out. I was skeptical, did sound bars only, even more skeptical til I replaced front lower dash L & R. It sounded great and I added Polly fill and it sounded tighter and seemed to have more umps to it. Getting some good bass out of the sound bar...or so it feels like it. Not sub woofer bass but bass enough that I was impressed.

Mark 01-20-2013 02:58 PM

Had the speakers sitting there for a month or so, waiting on a warm weekend to stick these in and make my own decision on the sound. I must admit I dont believe how great these sound for such little $$.

I bought a 2013 unlimited Moab a couple weeks ago. Traded my 2009 unlimited sahara for it. I'm 99.99% absolutely satisfied with the Moab. Except for the alpine premium sound system. After having the infinity system with the 430 HU and now having the alpine system with the 130 HU, I can tell a huge difference. In a week or two I will have the kenwood 6990 HD unit installed and a 12" sub and amp I have extra. Im hoping this improves the sound quality and I will def have enough base. The reason I'm going this route is I wanted navigation since I use it more than most people so speaker upgrades can come later if needed. I dont need the best sound but any upgrade will hopefully improve the so called alpine premium sound system.

fredrok 01-24-2013 08:41 AM

Just ok imo

'12 w the 130 Infinity system, swapped in the BA speakers with polyfill. Took about an hour total and I compared stock to BA as I did it. Really have to use my imagination, but might be better at higher volume. Otherwise, what I hear is a much brighter midrange (not too desirable) and maybe a tad better in low end. Glad it wasn't expensive, but happy it's certainly not any worse. Thanks for all the info on the swap, glad so many have much better results.

Samuno 01-24-2013 12:03 PM

Fredrok, this system has excessive midrange. Try setting the treble +7, mid - 6, bass +2. Those settings really cleaned up the sound for me.

fredrok 01-24-2013 02:22 PM

Thanks, that's almost exactly where I have it now. Yes, better, but if I had to do it over I would have saved the $. No doubt some have better luck and ears than I!

I'm with you!
The new so called Alpine system is not good by any means.
And while still not the best, I was much happier with the Infinty in my 2012.

bburry 01-25-2013 07:13 AM

What I did find is that there the system is very input source dependent.

I used the Duplicolor Adhesion Promotor and then the Mopar touch up paint in the spray can. Turned out really good.

jjmiii 01-26-2013 04:50 PM

I did this upgrade on my '13 with"premium audio.“ I installed only the right side and compared them to the alpine speakers. The Boston acoustic are much better. I'm very happy with the results.

nolehawk 01-26-2013 05:16 PM

Today I ordered the Kenwood KDC-X597 from Crutchfield for my 2007. I am hoping it will outperform my stock RES. I have the base speakers in the front and the Mopar Boston Acoustics in the soundbar with the polyfill. Crutchfield is so good that if I am not happy I know I will just be able to return it. I do not have the Infinity system, so the Bostons helped my system.

Would it be a good or bad idea to get a 4-channel amp to go with the Boston acoustics speakers... without damaging them...

They are all the same. A Mopar Part number will not have differences in the part. example: that p/n you looked up will be one part, it is just listed that way because a single part is used through out all Chrysler lines.
If there is a difference in a part, there will be a change in part number, the letters at the end of the numbers change only to state that a slight change in the part but it's the same part, maybe a tweak was improved etc.

Also parts can be/look the exact same (and really are the same) but fit only in a certain model, example is the Infinity Amp Premium ( Infinity manufactured by Harman Kardon) which 368 watts, 8 channels, are the same Amp for Wrangler, Nitro, etc, but the Wrangler one is preprogramed to send less to Sound Bars etc and If you order the Amp for a Nitro and install it in the Jeep the power for the Sound Bar is full and no more Limited channels to S Bar.

Mopar p/n's covers the physical part as it is. If part has a physical change, then p/n changes. Letter changes at the end do not Apply to the changes per model fit.
Below are all models this part has Fitments:

SPEAKER. Left Rear, Premium, Rear Door, Rear Quarter Trim, Right Rear. 6.5. Fits: CHRYSLER (2006-2012), DODGE (2008-2012), JEEP (2005-2010), . # 05081670AB, 05081670AA

Chrysler 200. PT Crusier etc etc.....Dodge Challenger, Avenger, Grand Cherokee etc etc ...From 2005 models to 2012 models...

Order by Part number, if you order by Make and Model and/or VIN , Huge Chance you will receive the wrong part because Parts People only know what the screen shows them not by what the part actually is.
