Another dash upgrade $1.67
Ok so this was the last straw today when my favorite pen rolled down through the abyss of a gaping slot between the windshield and the dashboard. I frequently find myself writing notes above the stereo area on a pad and have lost many things in that huge gap never to see them again.
Well today, I had enough so I went to Lowes home improvement and bought a piece of foam pipe insulation for ½” copper water lines. It cost me 1.67 plus tax. I compressed it down in the crack it works like a charm. It looks completely fine from the out side too.
This is an easy thing to repair so not sure if photos will be necessary. If you all want, I did take photos but I have temporarily misplaced my camera cable or I would go ahead and post em up.
I was so thrilled with the results that I threw all my pens all over the dash to see where they would end up. Now it being a beautiful day here in NC, I did loose a few out the window after the first turn.

Great idea. . . my only concern is if there is any air flow that is meant to come through that giant channel. So far, I've just tried to remember that the dashboard is not a shelf for anything smaller than my fist.

As far as the air flow I think that is a separate plastic vented channel. With that being said, I would not use the whole diameter of the insulation pipe where the defrost vent is in the center because there is obviously less void spaces in that area. I cut about a 1/4 of the foam off and it doesn't bow up my dash there now. From the inside you cannot even tell it's there and the outside it almost looks factory.
