Will this work with the factory remote start too?

Are the non-button keys waterproof?

So wait a minute.. I'm nowhere near my Jeep right now so I want to verify some logic.

I lock my doors with the original key, setting alarm. Then if I misplace that key, I can use the grey key to get into the Jeep and start it? What about the alarm? Won't the horn keep honking as if someone is breaking in? -OR- does the grey key shut off the alarm once inserted into the ignition?

I'm pretty sure the key disarms the alarm when you unlock the doors, but I'm not 100% sure. Can someone verify?

And another quick question. Anyone know if this will work for all Jeeps? We have a 2012 Grand Cherokee for the mrs and she 'misplaces' her keys ALL THE TIME.

This worked great for me. I had the dealer install a Mopar remote start in my 2010 JKU which means they had to supply me with two new keys. They gave me back the old keys (without the remote start button) in addition to the two new keys. Just programmed them all. Now I have 4 keys! Sweet.

Just wanted to chime back into this thread.

I was on a business trip overseas and Qantas/AA lost my luggage, including my keys somewhere in the middle of southeast Asia. When I arrived at JFK, I realized my keys were in my bag but thankfully I had my spare from this thread under the JK! This was probably the only thing that happened right on my entire trip. Thank you!!

If you only have one working transponder chip key, then you cannot self-program additional keys.

You will need to go to a dealer or locksmith, that can program a second transponder key.

Then, after you have two working transponder keys, either originals or replacements, you can make (self-program) up to 8 additional keys yourself. Directions are in your owner's manual.
