This is a cool idea. How easy is it to remove? I only take my hi-lift when Im going off road, no need to carry the extra gear driving to work/school etc. I might do this tomorrow though. Good job!

To remove the Jack is easy I used a 1/2" wing nut. To remove the whole mount you have to pull the spare tire, but it easy after that. BTW thanks for the compliments, I really like the set up so far. I have had it on for about 4000 miles with no rattles or shakes. Rear gate swings open like it not even there. Also make a good place to hang a dirty tow strap on the trail (never know when you will have to pull out a hummer or something )

Great mod....I just did mine over the weekend. My wingnut did loose a little while driving causing the jack to turn slightly. I added a lock washer to correct it.

Nice little mod, but I have just a couple of questions:
Is the weight of the jack all on the spare tire? And, does that put a bind on the spare or the tire mount? Just curious.
I really would like to mount a high-life jack on my jeep but kinda scared of the hood mount because of the weight on the hood. I really like this type of mount, but again, do not want to put a bind on anything.
