Meh, if it fulfills practical use for you.....so be it. If anyone throws a verbal jab at you, just tell em your 40" MTs you use on the trails are sitting in the garage.

Hrm... so I will hazard a guess that the MTs on the Rubicon (I also drive a Rubicon but have long since moved to 37s) are a load range C (at most D) tire so doubtful that the tire type is what gave the harsh ride. I'm betting those ATs you're running are a passenger tire and might be a load range B. Or, you had the MTs over inflated and the current tires at a correct inflation pressure.
Regardless, your rig and it needs to meet your needs. I'll still warn against taking it anywhere that you may need the lockers as that's likely also a good place to cut the sidewalls on those tires.
