Before my lift my 285/75r16s on 5in back spaced craiger soft 8s rubbed on air dam in reverse. A creek crossing ripped it off and solved that issue. D/C my tires would rub in the fender wells a little bit. A leveling kit would have stopped it.

Well that is partially related to an increase in commodities across the board, if you follow the stock market that may make sense.

They probably want to make more money selling tires that perform well in the winter by raising the prices in the fall too.

That makes sense, but the KM2's SUCK in the snow They are great for every other instance though (mud, sand, rocks..etc) and not too bad on the road noise.

If you compare them to a conventinal winter/snow/ice tire you can see why, while they have deep lugs,they are not sipped. The sipping is what helps once snow is packed down. Thats why many people are going with Duratrac's they have deep lugs and sipping. Mickey Thompson ATZ's also have deep lugs and factory sipping . . . Is my point valid?

You are correct. The sipping is what allows water/snow to evacuate the tread lug when your tires compresses the water. The same goes for performance street tires for cars.

For example, here is a Nitto NT 555R II Extreme dry performance tire for cars. The large smooth lugs allow for superior traction on dry pavement.


Here is a Goodyear Eagle RS-A. A common all-weather tire you would see on 90% of your family sedans. All of the little cuts in the tread allow the water to escape when driving down the road.


And here is a tire created specifically for winter weather. General Altimax Arctic. It has even more sipping then the all-weather tire pictures above.


And just for fun, here's a Nitto NT05R Drag radial. Would not want to be caught in the rain with these.


If you are looking for a tire that will do good in the rain and snow, look for one that has sipping in the treads.
