[Moved from Toyo AT 285/75/17s to Duratrac 285/70/17s]

Troyboy, I am trying to decide between the 285/75 toyo/nitto AT tire or the 285/70 duratrac. Could you give a little comparison between the two? CM

As far as size is concerned, 285/75 is the same width but about an inch taller. If you are talking about the nitto terra grapplers, they are very similar to toyo ATs but have a bit sexier sidewall. My toyo ATs were very quiet but looked like car tires and sucked in the snow. They were also very heavy.

I was very nervous about getting duratracs because I tried a toyo MT tire before that were supposed to be quiet and they drove me crazy. However duratracs are ATs that look like MTs. They are snow rated, quieter than the toyo MTs that I tried and behave nicely on the road.
I can't say how they are off road yet but I hear they are nice but perhaps have a weak sidewall. The odd time I go off road is mainly on old logging roads so I think they will be fine.

So far I am very happy with my duratracs.

Terra or trail grapplers? Sidewall doesn't look like trail grapplers . Looks good though
