285/70R17 Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac on 2008 JK Rubicon with stock suspension
285/70R17 Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac on 2008 JK Rubicon with stock suspension. I want to avoid spacers, lift and aftermarket wheels.
Three 3/8 washers on each steering bump stop. Tested. No rubbing. You could probably get away with two washers depending on thickness of the washer. Make sure you test in U-turn that will work the suspension down well.
Do the following so your Jeep knows what size of tires it has under it. Your traction and ABS systems will work to spec, your engine will properly compensate with appropriate timing and fuel delivery with no guesswork and your AVG ECO indicator will be accurate (Currently 18.1 MPG in Texas with the A/C way on).
Tire Diameter Measurements with Squish:
1) Top to Ground: Tape measured the rear tire diameter to 32.25 inches.
2) Rolled Divide by Pi: Chalk marked the ground and tire, rolled 360 deg, measured inches between two points, divided by Pi (100.25 inches / 3.14159 = 31.91).
Computer Adjustment:
Flashed 32.00 inches even (nearest average 1/4 inch) with AEV Procal.
TPMS has not complained so TPMS compensation adjustment not needed.
Result:
GPS and vehicle speedo odometers are almost dead on. Over 50+ miles GPS odometer shows just 1/10th of a mile less than vehicle's. This is definately due to low resolution in corners and sweeping turns typical of any GPS unit.
I also added a single Spidertrax 1.5 spacer to the spare tire carrier to clear the recess in the bumper as well as my CB antenna.

i have the stock 17's from a 2011 with 1.5" spidertrax spacers.
decided on getting the GY Dura's but can't decide if i should go with 285/70 or 295/70
any read world difference??, rubbing??, gas mileage??, etc..

Just installed some stuff. 1.5" Performance Leveling Kit - Teraflex. Warn VR8000 winch. Duratrac 33x12.5 on MB72. Raptor lined tub black and grill/door sills silver to match paint. ACE Rock Rails.
I was worried about the spare on the back due to larger tire so I weighed the rubicon take offs with 32 in BFGoodrich MT = 71 lb. I then weighed the Duratrac 33.5 on MB72 alloy = 65 lbs. I have original 16 inch steelies and new 225 tires so I weighed them too = 53 lb. So the manual says not to exceed 50 lb but they come from the factory loaded beyond that and my new set up weighs 6 lb lighter.
Raptor liner was easy enough but I took the time to fully rouch up and remove goo on floor. I wanted the sills to match along with the edge of the tub rim with silver paint and then the inside to be black. Took about a week.
Decided to have a Warn on the front but got the cheapie VR8000 since I will not use it much.
I am just a casual off road user so I should be fine now. I like the look. I was real worried when I first mounted the new tires with the amount they stick out = 1.5 inches or so. I drove it and they are quiter than the BFGoodrich MT smaller tire. They ride nice and smooth and produce a nice little hum instead of the wah wah wah from the MT. I ordered them mounted from DTD without TPMS. Interesting, the Jeep evidently knows there are no sensors and does not flash a warning so no programming needed from the Flashpaq beyond the new tire height.

Thanks. I searched a while for the half door model before buying. It works great and looks good to me with the back doors on (kids in the back) and fronts off. I can throw door tops in back on days where it may rain and slap em on if I need to drive i nthe rain. The bedlined tub prevents me from worrying too much about rain on the jeep when it is parked since I also run a safari top.

Went on a 200 mile round trip this weekend with my new tires, we are relatively flat around here but do have some small hills. No real notice loss o power, maybe a little more downshifting, by nothing bad. Looks like my mpg is down about 2 mpg. More than I thought it would be, but not a deal breaker. That is the computer, will be hand calculating it as well. My big test will b my normal driving and go close I can get to 250 miles per tank. My mpg loss might also be due to winter gas that hi our market, not sure I I did, but there was talk about it due to a local refinery fire that shut down production and them trying to get the OK to use the winter gas they have on hand. Overall, love the look and love the size.
