Default Minus 1 wheel diameter for snow tires – 2018 JK stock Rubicon

Have a stock 2018 JK Rubicon and would like to put traditional winter tires like Bridgestone Blizzak or Firestone Winterforce on 16-inch Mopar wheels from the base JK model. These wheels can be found cheap locally with TPMS included. Also, the narrower tire size of LT235/85r16 are better for snow traction and much lower cost than LT255/75r17 OEM size.

So, the question is – will the Mopar 1AH73S4AAD JK base model wheel fit on the Rubicon?

For the 07-17 JK, the answer would be an easy yes. For the 18 JK.....as long as you have the same diameter brakes as the earlier models, yes. The first and last year is when they usually start doing odd things.

I live in snow country and always run two sets of tires. Current winter tires are Falken at3w in 255/80-17 on stock rims perfect size even for a lifted Rubicon. Cheap thru tirebuyer.com and extremely smooth riding and confidence inspiring on slick roads.

I found a minus 1 snow tire application on a JK Willys. It is a review of the Hankook ipike rw11 with JK 16 inch OEM steel wheels.
See this YouTube video:

Purchased wheels locally from a fellow jeeper. $50 for all 5 with TPMS from a 2013 wrangler - hope TPMS work. Now to decide on the snow tire. Will be LT235/85r16. I learned all tires this size have a load rating of E. Pix of wheels and pix of wheel size and offset calculations versus stock size. Will let you know how it goes...

The wheel offset calculator:

the tire size calculator:

Great for working out what-if scenarios.
