Default Largest Tires on Stock 2 Door Rubicon with AEV Wheels

Know many forms of this question are asked, but there never seems to be a clear cut answer on the biggest tire you can run on a stock Rubicon. Asked around many of the local shops as well and get different answers.

I have a 2013 2-door Rubicon with AEV wheels (Backspacing 5.2", Offset +10mm). Can I run BFG Mud KM2 285/70R17 (33" x 11.5") or 255/80R17 (33.3" x 10") or 285/75R17 (33.9" x 11.3") without any issues of tires rubbing on any part of the vehicle while at it's full capability offroad?

Thanks, I appreciate any feedback.

I can tell you from experience that you can not run 285/75-17 toyos on AEV pintlers with out a lift.

Assuming your Toyo's are their Open Country M/T, they are 34.1" x 11.6". That would rule out the BFG 285/75-17. Thank you

I believe my stock Sahara tires with 18in rims are 255/70R18 which are a 32in diameter. So the sweet spot has to be somewhere around that 32in diameter area for 17's as well is what I'm thinking.

Great, thanks. Those according to the Toyo website measure 33.9" x 11.3" so the exact same as the BFG 285/75-17.

The stock Rubicon tires are 255/75R17, which measure 32.1" x 10". It's tough to get a good answer, because manufacture's metric size does not always equate to the actual overall diameter and section width in inches.

OP- all choices are 33's so all will fit. The 255's with no rub while the wider 285's may rub at full lock on control arms. Easily corrected by adjusting steer stops.

I have 285/75/17 Duratracs on AEV Pintlers. At full turn there is not rub on pavement. Any bumps and full turn, it rubs pretty good. Getting the 2.5 AEV lift next

What is listed in the specs can be very different than what you find when you actually pull out the tape measure. Given the same stated size, both height and width can vary quite a bit between mfg's, and even between different tires from the same mfg.

Just one of the reasons you are not going to find a 'clear cut answer'. Others might be fender choice, actual lift height (which could be which of the dozen different stock coils came on your particular jeep vs what the next guy has), how much extra weight is bolted/welded on, how centered you axles are, whether you disconnect, etc, etc, etc ...
