JK 3 inch lift 20x9 wheels 35x12.5x20 tires 5 inch backspacing question????
I'm looking at getting a 3 inch lift for my JK with 20x9 Metal Moto wheels and 35x12.5x20 tires. The wheels state they have a 5 inch backspacing but the lift kit Im eye balling simply says 4.5 inch of backspacing (no range or tolerance given, is the 4.5 backspacing a max?). Does anyone have experience with this given scenario in terms of tire rubbing? If there was rubbing, was the solution to get 1.25 to 1.5" spacers to fix the rubbing?

4.5" backspace for 35x12.50's is the general recommendation most lift mfg's state, you will even find it in the faq's stuck right to the top of this Modified area. It is NOT a hard and fast rule. As noted in this other thread from yesterday asking the same basic question, there are a lot of variables involved.

You will find some people who state that they run a 5" backspace with no issues. And you will find others who have some rubbing. If you find that the tires rub, you can do some trimming, or add bumpstop, or add washers to the steer stops. Or, buy wheel spacers. But none of us can tell you with absolute certainty whether you will or will not rub...

What lift isnit? The front lowers with the Rock Krawler kit require a good bit of tire clearance when turning. Mine rub slightly at full turn even with 4.5.
Oh and this is just one example.
