Default Backspacing and TeraFlex Lift Kit

I have a 2D 2013 Jeep Wrangler Sport with stock 16" wheels and 30" 235/75R16 112T tires. I purchased a Teraflex 1.5 inch S/T1 Suspension Lift Kit with Falcon 2.1 Shocks. With my year and model supplied to them, ExtremeTerrain website did not mention needing anything else to do the installation. I just read that I need wheels with 4.75" or less of backspacing or offset wheel adapters. Searching but can't find the backspacing on my wheels. I'm also having trouble figuring out why there would be a need to space the wheels out. At some point I will change the wheels, but was hoping to hold off until finances are better. I've read that 1.25" spacers will work, but have read spacers can be trouble. Any help would be appreciated.

factory should be 6.25". You want wheel adapters not spacers, many people call adapters spacers so there is some confusion there. For your size tires you should be fine without spacers or new wheels. Lift companies will generallly tell you 4.5" or less bs because when people lift it is to put bigger tires on the jeep, typically 33x12.5 or 35x12.5.

Let's say for the sake of argument that I do need either the spacer/adapter or wheel with less backspacing to use this lift kit. Is there any difference in handling, wear or other things between the two options? It sounds to me like two ways of achieving the same goal so there wouldn't be. The reason I ask is because I don't know how soon I'd be able to get new wheels but the thought of putting money into the spacers that could have gone to wheels is a concern.

Unless the kit has shock relocation brackets that push the lower mounts out torwards athe wheels you will not need either the wheels or spacers. No difference in adapters vs wheels in the same net BS. The more you push out the wheelwith either method does change your scrub radius and puts more stress on the ball joints and wheel bearings.

Two places that said in-stock on there websites replied back saying they had no stock after I had placed the orders (and they took money from my cc). It appears they may have the kit without shocks. Looking for an equivalent shock to the Falcon 2.1. Fox? Any recommendations?

Why exactly are you putting a lift on while running such small tires? Extreme Terrain has a terriable rep, best to just cancel the order and get a refund.

I found the TeraFlex Suspension System and TeraFlex Shocks sold separately on Amazon. Both say they ship from Amazon, so I'm assuming they are in stock in their warehouse. The suspension system and shocks looked exactly like what comes in the TeraFlex kit. Am I missing something?

Most companies sell just the components and have options in their kits. Personally I think Teraflex is junk and there are better companies out there. Why are you lifting?

@TheDirtman I bought the Jeep early this year with well over 100K miles on it. Engine, transmission and body are in good shape, but the shocks are not. Most of the 12K miles I've put on have been towing a small travel trailer with some light off roading once at destinations. I'm looking for a good ride while towing, so don't want a lift that will change geometry too much. My thought is that this 1.5" lift with new shocks and springs will be a good start to accomplish that. I do hope to change to bigger tires/wheels when finances permit, but there's still a lot of life left in my 30"ers. I'll admit to wanting a slightly more rugged look from every other stock Jeep you see out there, but read that body lifts are not a great option. The reviews I've read on TeraFlex have been good. Are you saying you think they're bad or just that you think there are better ways to go? How would you have approached my situation?

Most of their stuff is made in china and their shocks are poor quality. Their coils tend to sag over time and there are jsut better companies to go with. They do off a large selection of products. 1.5" coil lifts are rare out there, most will go with 2" or 2.5". I would say go with the lift for the future planned tire size.
