Default 285/70-17 vs 285/75-17

I have someone that is interested in buying my 285/70-17 Falken Wildpeak AT3s I just put on a week ago. This has me thinking if I do sell them that I could go up slightly in size to a 285/75-17 in the same tire.

The difference in size is 32.8 for the 70 series and 33.9 for the 75 series. It will cost a bit more but is it worth it for an inch taller tire?

Thanks

I like my 285/75R17s. On a 2" Mopar Lift.

Just did this two weeks ago. Wow. Yep there is a notable difference.FWIW. It was on a 2012 4 dr half-doors. From KM1’s 285/70r17 to Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT 285/75r17. I wanted a bigger tire but not the extra weight and width. Very respectfully proportionate. (In fairness, I did just ,also, go from a 1 1/2” sprig spacer to a 2 1/2” metalcloak touring lift.) That aside...

It depends which 285/70 you have now. If you have the P285/70 you're going to gain 15lbs per tire (30% gain) and go from a 4 ply to a 10 ply rated tire, both of which will change your on-road ride quality quite a bit.
If you have LT285/70 now, not much will change.

Great point. The 285/70-17s I have now are "P" or passenger rated. I didn't think too much about the ride quality - thanks

Dam, that's a sweet-looking ride! Do you still have the stock gearing?

I have the stock Rubicon 4.10 gearing. Works fine for me with the Pentastar, no need to change.
