well, my son and i were using 2 cameras - a Sony DSC-R1 with a fixed 24-120mm F2.8-4.8 Carl Zeiss T* lens and a Sony a350 with a 16-80mm F3.5-4.5 Carl Zeiss T* lens.
we'll have to go back out and drag you along next time
well, in all fairness, i guess i was cheating as WOLette did all the driving
you know, this was really a last minute thing and only thought about it after i noticed the salton sea
having the FT LA was a real nice improvement

it really was the perfect time of day to be taking dune shots.
they really were. it was kind of wierd to go from big ass sharp rocks to soft sand dunes all on the same trail. tons of fun!
they are off road evolution links.
yup, that is one of the cameras that we were using.

The newer compact cameras take superb shots, it's really not necessary to haul that DSLR around anymore. My relatively old Canon G7 takes such good photos I usually leave the Olympus DSLR at home.
WOL, trememdous post, fantastic photography, alreeady looking forward to your next "installment".

I have been shooting for 12 years now and have noticed that point and shoot photography is actually getting worse when compared to what was offered on a film level. Lenses are getting smaller, image sensors are getting smaller, flashes are getting smaller, batteries are getting smaller, etc. That all translates to grainy shots, horrible indoor/lowlight performance, and image full of artifacts at a 100% view.
I have noticed that my new 10.1megapixel is worse than my old 8.something camera. The only reason why I chose it over a real camera is because I do underwater/surfing photos and dont want to break a better one. Also, I dropped my old camera on a rock when off roading and the new one is supposed to be good to go if that happens.
well, if you ever find your way out in my neck of the woods, we'll have to take you out there

yes. on pavement, having arms that sit more level like stock will give you a great ride. on the trail, having long arms has allowed me to run longer limiting straps and so now i get even more flex than before
without a doubt, i had no idea that a daily driver jeep could every obtain the amount of flex that we have now but what's even more impressive is the fact that our ride is as smooth as silk on pavement and handles way better than stock.
i do too. i'm real happy to see our son enjoying photography and doing as well as he is.
