Actually, the nice thing about this trip is that you sleep in the town of Real de Catorce each night and venture out into the mountains by day. Or you can camp in the alpine areas. Almost all the services you need (lodging, food, entertainment, beer, etc) are available in the town. The nearest gas station is down on the plains about 20 miles away, but you gan buy gasoline from "private" expendiaries in town, if necesary. They sell it to you in big jugs.
There are some really unique hotels and inns dating back hundreds of years. They range from rustic to high end. IMO, the best hotel to stay is the Meson de la Abundancia... a boutique hotel with only 9 rooms, but excellent. They also have the best restaurant in town.
Here's the list of main hotels. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2022/...972b3802_o.jpg
Most speak english. "Categoria especial" are the higher end ones.
Heres more info on the area: http://www.vivarealdecatorce.com/
The town itself is worth exploring. History at every corner. Many restaurants, bars, shops. Very laid back atmosphere. On weekends, it tends to receive a lot of visitors.
