Agreed... everyone has gone it alone at one time or another, including myself. If you do go it alone, you need to pick your trails. CK in that kind of weather is just plain nuts going by yourself, your favorite fishing hole or not.

Sounds like you need to get some more Jeepin buddies if you're going it alone that much.

Agreed 100%! We have all gone out alone, and I will continue to from time to time... But I pick trails that are "safer." Not that CK is too tough, but in poor weather it can get nasty fast. I have seen rigs slide off the shelf roads near the top in snow, ice and even mud, and literally fall to their death. I have seen rigs get washed down our dry river beds during monsoons from flash floods... I think its sound advise to carefully choose when and where to go out by yourself.

Yea I sure do...let me know when you're going out there Mesa It's really green and nice down on the Gila near the Coke Ovens this time of year.

Even greenier than usual with all the rain we've had.

The group I run with is having it's 3 day spring event next weekend, Mar 19~21. There are a few people coming from Tucson. Most people are camping at Usery Park, which is home base for the event and where we'll have dinner etc. The main trail for Saturday is the Box Canyon/Coke Ovens trail. So far we have 22 Jeeps/39 people attending.

Cost is $15.00 a night to camp and $12.00 for a catered BBQ beef dinner Saturday night. If interested, let me know and I'll send you a link to the event.

Wow! 22 jeeps on the Coke Ovens trail?? That trail is already long as it is. One of the reason's I got my jeep is to get away from it all, including rush hour traffic!

I'll have to check out the pics of Crown King AJ. Last time I was there was back in September.

^^^^^ Yeah it's gonna be a traffic jam alright. Of the 22, maybe 16~17 are doing the Box Canyon/Coke Ovens run. The others are doing a modified Ajax trail. We're going to have to break the Ovens run into two groups and stagger the start times. A long day for sure!!

I love this trail, I did it last time just after some really heavy rain, no snow though. A lot washed out sections and had to stack rocks in several places just to get through. Looks like you had fun, next time I'm sure you will not forget to disconnect
