I drove past a pt cruiser today and thought to myself,"when the hell are they gonna redesign that turd? It's been like 10 years." So boredom posed me to google the 2011's. It turns out they're finally killing it off. The article chastised the car for it's super cheap and neglected interior and mentioned a plastic bar along the dash that people called the towel rack... First thing that came to mind was our JK's grab bar, so I checked some pics and was Surprised how many parts of our interior come from the PT. Climate controls, switches, steering wheel and other jazz. With the PT dead and us being the anchor for chrysler, it's no wonder they're redesigning our cabin.

Come on everyone... do you now understand one of the reasons for the new Jeep steering wheel, instrument panel, reworked center stack? With the PT dead, they had to pull parts from other vehicles... our new steering wheel (for example) is what is found in the 2011 Grand Cherokee...

Not saying I agree with the change, just from a money stand point, they make money by using parts from other vehicles... using only parts for a JK, they end up passing the extra "cost" on to us!!!!!!!!!!

 

As I have said before the thing i hated the most about the 07 JK was the interior they should have only slightly up dated the old interior for the 07 JK, but now with the new up to date interior it does look better. Now if they would quickly replace the V6 and old auto gear box.

 

You know actually the PT Cruiser got worse over the years with redesigns IMO. My parents just bought a barely used 2002 that is way nicer inside then the new ones we had test drove. It was a solid seller that was usually in the top 3 sellers each year for Chrysler and sold above its projections every year. Like it or hate it...its been a huge money maker.

But...that said, I think its a turd lol.
