Your thoughts on lifetime warranty and extended warranties

I called the dealer today to check to see which of these warranties they are selling. It is the Maximum Care Contract. They tell me that normal price is $3200, but offering it to me at the discounted price of $2700. I have never owned a vehicle long enough to put (myself) more than 100,000 miles on it, but I've never owned a new vehicle before either, I have always had preowned vehicles that started out with 40,000 plus miles when I bought them, one of which I drove until the engine seized at 177,000 (bought it with 80,000 miles).
My most recent vehicle, a 2003 GMC 2500HD, had less than 100,000 miles when I sold it. But, before I sold it I had to put about $2000 into it at the dealership to fix 3 of the 4 electric windows, abs module, and something else I can't remember. This experience is what makes me think going with this max care contract would be a smart move. To know that all of these things that might go wrong with it after the factory warranty has expired are so freaking expensive, makes $2700 now seem like a decent deal.

If you will keep the vehicle, buy the MaxCare unless you know more than the mechanical end of repair. Keep in mind that you can shop around and get it much cheaper than 2700.00. You don't have to buy it from your dealer. Think I saw a thread here a few months ago with the going rate much less?
