You know what's funny...
i get a good laugh when other people compare their cars to our JK's. They say, "your car is nice and all but i would beat you in my car" And our reply to them is just, how about we take this offroad. anybody have this happen recently? lol

I got that from people when I had my TJ. It was funny. I would suggest that they shut their mouth and prove it and usually there was some excuse about the wife getting made their Avalanche or whatever would get dirty or might get scratched.

I actually just "raced" a guy I work with the other day coming back from lunch. He's got an '01-'02-ish Acura Integra....we were going about 30mph and both punched it, I stayed right next to him until about 80mph then we backed off. He was surprised at how I kept up with him, and then suggested we race from a stop like at a red light. I then suggested we go up the road to a little trail I know and race there....everyone had a laugh.

My aunt and uncle just bought a honda cr-v (i know... ) , and they are so obssessed with proving that it's the best. They keep insisting it's best in class, the whole reliability bullshit, fuel economy, etc... And they discreetly bash the jk. I'm like yes, it is a good basic form of transportation. But it's a car for those who dont like cars. Our jeeps may not be on the top for reliability, or have the best quality interiors, or have great fuel economy, but honestly, no vehicle comes close to its versatility (goes everywhere, two tops, removable doors, etc.), it looks awsome and you have alot for your money. That's one thing I like to point out while we're comparing a cr-v to a wrangler (apples to oranges, I know); my aunts base fwd cr-v (a compact suv) comes not even 3 grand below our well equipped 4x4 sahara (a midsized suv), while a comparibly equiped cr-v would be well above our sahara's price. I rest my case.

I don't get people telling me their vehicle is better, but I have found that almost everyone that drives a SUV and is in the lane next to me at a red light seems to want to race. They punch it, then get in front of me, like they have something to prove. I just chalk it up to them being jealous and I wish I could tell them face to face that I did not buy my Jeep for on road performance, off raod is where it counts.

Like they say in sports, both sides have to play in the same conditions. If he couldn't hang, then for that day, you were faster than him and no one can take that away from you.

My son-in-law got a new sports model Mini Cooper about the same time this past Fall as our Rubi came in. He is totally in love with his new car and constantly tells me how great it is. I tried to counter with some of the great things about the JK but he wasn't interested. Finally in one conversation he said, "I'll race you!" I replied, "Fine! You name the time and I'll name the place!"
