Yet another "trade in for pentastar" thread

Unless you just want the newer 3.6, I say no. Build your Jeep to your liking and if it is still not powerful enough, throw on a supercharger for another 'hunnard horses. You are putting on $13k what's another $5k? The $13k is a moot issue and you will be probably be upside down on your trade regardless so use that money you would lose on your trade and build what you have.

While I love my 2012, and I'm glad I waited for the 2012 instead of buying a 2011, I would have been perfectly happy with a 2011, and I would advise against trading/get rid of/selling/whatever a perfectly good working jeep just to buy another. I say stick with what you got, but it's up to you. Either way, if it makes you happy it'll be the right decision.

Youve bought a new vehicle less than a year ago, & ordered $13K in parts,
Money and warranties are of no concern so
If I'm spending your money, I would trade the 11 stock for a 12 and build that 12 up. The motor trans upgrade WILL make you smile, its that nice of an upgrade.
Besides, Who cares about resale in 10 years, that thing will be a beat piece of Crap but still fetch a good down payment on your next rig.

Sounds like you may have made up your mind, but here's my 2 cents...I wouldn't do it. I have an '11 as well. Sure the '12 might be worth more in the long run, but you're going to lose a lot of money making the switch, so to me you wouldn't come out ahead. Depending on what you paid for the '11, you'll lose the sales tax you paid on it, which might be around $2,300. Plus you're going to lose some more due to depreciation, because you'll sell it for less than you gave new. So lets say that you'd lose $3,000 there. Then in order to buy a new one, you're going to have to pay another $2,300 or more in sales tax, which to me is just more money down the drain. So right there it would cost you $7,600 (just using the numbers here as an example). I just can't waste that kind of money, so a new '12 is not even a consideration to me at all. I suppose if you're not a cash buyer, it may not seem that expensive, if you're just comparing the old payment to the new payment, but in reality it will cost you a lot more.

The Jeep guys know that a 2011 won't sell like a 2012, so trade it in for a nice Taco at the Yota dealership, drive it for a month, then trade the Taco in for a 2012 JK.
