I like the Lange paint saver but also saw a soft top boot made by Mopar that seemed to cover the side and back sections that are vulnerable. Anyone had any experience with that item?

Here is te link to that item: http://www.cyberjeep.com/prodinfo.asp?number=82209912&

Here's my list of recommendations:

Husky liners (A+),
Grab handles (I have Mastercraft's, and give them an A+),
Cold Air Intake (I have AIRAID, and only give it an A because it cost >$200),
Drill the side mirrors (free, A+),
Paint the interior details [search on "Interior Paint"] (<$10, B+),
Door entry guards (I have black Mopar & like 'em pretty well: B),
First Aid kit for in-floor storage compartment (a must-have: B),
Vehicle Fire Extinguisher (mounts easily on back of rear rollbar - mine's held to the rollbar with HD-bungees: B-).

Hope that helps! Good luck getting your Jeep soon, and enjoy!

How much difference did the cold air intake make? Gas mileage, performance?

The one on the pic is for TJ.

Mopar Soft Top Boot for JK look like this:

You can find more pics of the boot cover at my gallery.

I really like the boot. It protects the soft top from UV, dust, mud etc., and it keeps the top clean. It definitely a "must have" item for me.

Great Photo Gallery. Thanks for the pics, definitely looks like a must have but the pics show me that it obviously doesn't protect the paint on the sides like I thought. Sure does make everything look much neater with the boot on.

The Airaid gave me another mile per gallon, as did the Magnaflow Muffler I did (just the muffler to replace the trash can out back). That was about $180. The Cat back is very nice I am sure, but at about $450?

I picked up a small air compressor at Harbor Freight for $50 that I use a lot- it works really well.

(If you have a two door) the Clover Patch Convert-a-top gives you an instant safari top for $30.

Thanks!

No, it doesn't protect the paint on the side. Yes, the boot cover keeps the back area neat, and it actually create more space underneath of the soft top.

Gas mileage: Gained about 2-2.5 mpg (but I firmly believe that 1/2 of that gain was due to engine breaking-in with use).

Performance: (Judged by seat-of-the-pants alone, no actual data) small boost in general driving, large boost in performance from a dead stop/rolling start.

The biggest change, and least measurable gain, is the great engine snarl you gain with a CAI - changes the sound under heavy throttle substantially, and for the better!

Not a problem, I already have one of those anyway.
