he didn't mention the wrangler. i'd be really surprised if they put an engine like that into the wrangler.

says it will replace many others in the Chrysler line up.

I trade mine in today if they released it with a 4.7 or something.

That's an expensive engine. If it does make it into the Wrangler, it'll drive up the price substantially. One advantage of the 3.8 is that it's dirt cheap.

According to Chrysler presentations, even the most powerful Phoenix, displacing 3.6 liters and producing (in preliminary tests) over 280 horsepower, is quieter than Toyota’s 3.3 liter V6 - and far quieter than the Toyota 3.5 liter V6. Gas mileage is said to be good, partly due to the use of high-pressure, die-cast blocks, which save on labor and allow for thinner walls and less use of aluminum. These blocks are 20 pounds lighter than General Motors‘ V6 blocks, saving around $40 per engine on aluminum alone; an independent firm estimated that these engines are at least $300 cheaper to build than GM’s current V6 line.
Found this on the Allpar web .Updated on Thursday.

A replaceable filter element instead of a "spin" on oil filter. Interesting....

that's how bmw does it, although the shape is the same as an oil filter, I never understood why more did not switch to that style instead of wasting material with screw on filters

it's no longer the phoenix v6, it's the pentastar v6 and allpar has rumored for sometime that the wrangler will get a direct injection version of the 3.6 due to the higher tolerance of engine noise
