Default Wrangler 2011 Call of Duty vs. 2012 Base Rubicon

Need to make a decision this weekend. My dealer is offering me a 2011 Wrangler Call of Duty (New) for the same price as a base 2012 Rubicon. What should i do?

It's not even a contest. The motor (and especially tranny if you are talking automatics) in the 2012 is worth far more than the extra stickers and bling on the 2011 COD. If you have any intention of running 35" or bigger, I'd get the 2012 hands down.

Get the better engine. Bumpers and sticker are easy to add. A engine swap isn't. And you'll want one after living with the mini van v6 for a while

What scares me is the first year model. The old 3.8 has been around a long time and is pretty stable. No?

Oh man, I'd go for the 2012 hands down for the engine alone, not to mention the other goodies that come with the Rubicon. I'm not sure if the COD edition comes with the 4.10 gears, front and rear lockers, 4:1 transfer case and D44 in front like the Rubicon does. I agree with the other poster, bumpers and stickers are easy to put on, but the other stuff gets expensive quickly.

On the other hand... If you are planning a complete makeover like some other folks around here, meaning Hemi engine swap, D60 axle swaps and so on, then either one would be fine.

The Pentastar was being used in Chrysler and Dodge vehicles beginning in 2010 (2011 model year). There was plenty of time to work out bugs. Get the 2012, you won't regret it.
