Winch Problem
So I got a used winch from a good friend really cheap. Who I do trust and would not screw me over.
I hooked up the winch today and got some of the cable out as I was going to respool it neater, and nothing. I checked all power and seems good. Is it posible the cable is too bound up on the spoll as to why nothing is working?

Is the winch trying to do something or is there no response like its not getting power? My was doing a similar thing last year. Mine is a Warn XD9000i, the old kind with the plastic solenoid box you can mount anywhere. My solenoid box had gotten loose and apparently it being bolted to the winch plate acts as a ground for some of the solenoids. I tightened up the bracket and all has been well since.

The solenoid was probably stuck because it hasn't worked in a while. If it's held together with screws, you can take it apart and clean the contacts. It's not hard at all.

They can bind up if the line is totally messed up, I've seen that happen a few times. It's always a good Idea to unwind and do the initial "stretch" phase after every pull. Basically just hook up against a tree or something and pull in about 5 or 6 feet at a time, with slight pressure on the breaks, then get out and check it after each 5 or 6 feet to make sure it's all nice and neat. I know it's a pain, but it will save you much head ache on the trails when you really need it.
