I don't want to wait for the unknown. I was going to, but I'm getting sick and tired of being dicked around by marketing.

Life is short, it could be over tomorrow.

I really want to get into something smaller.

The 2011 is good enough. I can always trade it in later on down the line.

When I purshased my JK I knew I was not buying a Porshe. I figured it probably would not be very fast. All thow I did figure it should do great on the trail and it does. I purshased my JK cause I really enjoy being out in nature.

There may be a lot to not like about the new ones. I may pick up a 2011 soon.

im not so worried about speed nor gas mileage..

ive got a 500 HP monte carlo for speed...

and im likely ordering my smart-car convertible by summer for gas mileage...

My Jeep? still the darn most fun vehicle to have of any of them built today!

Default 6 speed

Most of the reply comments are right on, you gotta know why you buy a JK JKU or any Jeep wrangler...
I have to admit back in 07 when I test drove a couple of automatic JKUs I didn't like it. I tried a 2 Dr and no better in my perception. I had always owned manual CJs but thought I might appreciate an automatic as I get older. In 08, I choose the 6 spd. Best decision, drop that sucker into 4th and go... when I get bigger tires I'll regear.
The new engine will be a good upgrade, particularly for automatics, but I think a diesel is the best thing for our JKs... out there.

Had a GC rental that had the pentastar and I was not all that impressed by it. It did not seem to have that much more power than the JK and I think my wife's minivan with the 4.0 has more pep. Given they have similar HP and weight (granted different gearing) however I was expecting a little more pop to it and I was just not feeling it.

As for my JK, I like the 3.8, besides a proven engine, with the 6 speed I have the control to pull trailers up steep and long inclines just fine. I'm not trying to set any speed records so I'm not concerned about getting up the hills at a high speed.

I don't think they are putting in a new engine for speed, but rather to comply with the new MPG law that is going into effect in 2012 and 2016. Either way, the new JK's beat the crap out of my 92 YJ... Hills were a no go, ha

Why they are still underpowered now is beyond me but I dont think Jeep really cares to change it dramatically because we all keep buying them!
Don't know about where you are from but, I learned in school 202 > 150. It is all about perception, there are great HP numbers made today with great fuel milage. I have to tell you it was not better in the good 'ole days.

More ponies would be great although, historically an unstable vehicle with a lot of horsepower is a bad combination for the average consumer.

The 304 had a displacement of 303.92 CID (4,980.3 cc) which produced 210 hp (157 kW) in 1970-71 and was built starting in 1970.[5] Later models produced less power from the factory, going down yearly. 1972-78 models were rated at 150 hp (112 kW). It was rated at 130 hp (97 kW) in 1979, the last year it was installed in passenger cars, and 125 hp (93 kW) in 1980-81, the last years it was used in Jeep vehicle
