Why are there so many 4x2s out there?
I'm looking at the inventory of the closest 10 dealers... and they barely have any 4x4s in stock! I see about 8 4x2s to about 1 or 2 4x4s in ratio! What is the deal with this? Why even get a 4x2 Wrangler? Not to mention once I locate a 4x4 it is auto.. I know a lot of you prefer that, but I want a 6spd manual.

I've noticed the same thing here in FL. Then you get the salesman trying to pull his BS "you don't need 4wd, it just kills your gas milage and blah blah blh..."
The only semi-justified argument I've heard for the 4x2 is my buddy's friend who bought one. He wanted a convertible that he could carry the family in, and it was the only 4-door convertible out there.

Truthfully if you think about it how many of us realy do not go out and wheel hard in mud and climb rocks? I know a lot here do but overall do we as consumers realy do that especially with a daily driver? I personally keep mine in 2wd most of the time even offroad because I don't need 4wd. I actually think I could have gotten away cheaper with a 2wd and done everything except one or two things in my over 12,000 miles I put on the jeep. I know when I was a kid I had an old 2wd ford ranger that I drove almost everywhere I have had the jeep so I know 2wd will do most of what I do. That said I do ocasionally use 4wd and like to have it if I need it. I also need a vehicle that can take a pounding and a jeep is it the ranger got beat to hell. If you think on it there is nothing wrong with a 2wd jeep just like any other vehicle it's all what you do with it and how you do it.

4x2
found a JK 4-door 4x2 w/43k miles on the used lot for $21,998. Couldn't pass it up. Bought it and love it. It's the families daily driver and we dont need 4 wheel drive to get to the grocery store and havent gotten stuck while going off road (yet) with it. I figure when we really get the off roading bug we will invest in a CJ7.
