Why are people saying that a soft top is difficult to put up and take down?
Takes me less than 5 minutes! Here's how to do it:
Up:
1) Make sure cross bar is in forward position and pull up the top so the cross sits across the top where it eventually latches
2) Latch the cross bar
3) Latch the latches by the visor
4) Tuck in the front of the side windows so that it fits properly. If you don't do it now it won't work w/o a struggle.
4) Tuck in the soft top starting at the front of the front doors
5) Tuck in the rear, at the tailgate, last. Stand on the bumper and bare weight on the soft top frame. Use one hand to tuck it in.
Down:
1) Unlatch the latches at the visor
2) Untuck the top by the tailgate. Now the top is loose and easy to deal with.
3) Unlatch the crossbar
4) Untuck the rest of the top
5) When folding it down, make sure it the cross bar remains forward so that it's easy to put up.
How is this hard? It goes up or down in less than 5 minutes with minimal effort.

How about when it's pouring out and you're trying to get the hard top on:
1) Look around and see if any strong neighbors are around to help out.
2) Apologize to the neighbor for asking him to help you put the hard top on for the 50th time.
3) Don't say anything when he scratches your Jeep because after all, you asked for the help.
4) Ponder over which other neighbor you'll prety on to help you take the damn thing off when the rain stops in two hours.
two hours later....
5) Find that neighbor and repeat...

Try placing the top on when :
A) Doing it for the first time EVER and following the Jeep's Manual
B) When the top is Brand New out of the storage package &
C) When it's below 15C
D) No sunshine to heat up the top to stretch & soften up
EQUALS a Bee with an itch to put up!!!!

So stand on something. I don't see how the lift and tires would make a difference. And why would anyone be taking it off or on in 15c weather? Wouldn't it simply be on? And why would anyone use the manual? Since when do manuals explain things properly? And so what if it's difficult the first time. Don't things get easier after a few times? If a person can't take the top up or down in 5 minutes tops, then I have to question that person's abilities. Is it really that hard????

Dude....WHY WOULD I BE PUTTING UP A TOP IN 15C WEATHER OR COLDER????? you actually are asking me this question?????
Weather does change drastically where I am living in the Selkirk and Rocky Mountains....I could be seeing 35C weather and dip down to 0C with snow the next day!!!!
WTF.......So now you are saying it's difficult the first time.....
I am guessing it took you more than 5 minutes that first time....but you must be a champ at folding and unfolding, tucking and zipping!!!!
Yes it does get easier each time you do it as you have practiced the steps of folding and zipping it and factors of the top stretching and loosing up from new.
