Why 10X more JKU's than JK's?
I was just looking at the Jeeps for sale in the JK Recycler and on Ebay. There's about 10 times as many 4 door JKU's in both than 2 doors. Is that because there are 10 times as many on the road? Or, do 4 door owners trade more often?

From personal experience...I'd say it is because there are 10 times more on the road. We all have got families and/or carry too much stuff with us when we go anywhere. I have had several CJs and a TJ...the room a JKU has it worth having.

Old info but interesting numbers....
From what I can figure will built about 250,000 Wranglers total in 07 and 08 and around 60% of them are 4 doors for a total of around 150,000 4 doors. We average around 80 exports per day and of them at least 60 are 4 doors for a total of around 30,000 4 door exports for the last 2 years. The export sales have picked up in the last couple of months so I have noticed they are building more then 80 exports a day right now.As for the hard top option, does that include the dual top hard top?We having been running around 30% hard top,30% dual top and 40% soft top.
Also this....
Sales
Calendar Year United States Canada Total
2007 119,243 9,834 129,077
2008 84,615 12,137 96,752
2009 82,044
2010 94,310 11,062 105,372
2011 111,045 (January-October)

Utility, space, and 5 passengers are all good reasons for there to be more 4 doors - but litterally, if you count the Ebay auctions, and the listings in the Recycler, its about 10:1, way, way, more than the sales numbers. Given the sales numbers, there's some compelling reason for the disparity in re-sales. I tote my kids in my 2 door btw. I was about to sign on a 4 door, when it hit me, that I already have other 4 doors, and didn't need another, so I saved 2.5k, and made them come up with a 2 door at the last second. Darned glad I did! Still curious why there's so, so, many more used 4 doors for sale than 2 doors?

I think more people (myself included) were able to justify a Wrangler when the 4 door came out. I traded in my 2002 WJ for mine and actually increased interior capacity. Not as nice to drive on road trips but the JKU made a Wrangler reasonable and doable.
That and we all drooled over a 4 door Wrangler since AEV started building them for Mopar shows in the 90s

After driving a 2000 TJ for 8 years I never wanted to deal with another 2 door anything ever again. The overall lack of room to bring anything with you was one of my biggest complaints.
