Question Who's shipped wheels/tries???

I've got a member who is interested in my wheels and tires that I am selling. I live in Phoenix, him in Dallas. I need to find out the best way (read cheapest) to ship these. It is 5 steelies and 33's. Weigh just under 80 lbs each. Anybody have any tips or leads? How much has it cost to ship others? Anyone, anyone??

I had five Rubi takeoffs shipped from Arizona to NY for $250 via FedEx ground. The price included cardboard pizza boards on both sides of the rims and shrink wrapping done by the shipper. Rubi takeoffs weigh about 76 pounds each. Hope this helps. FedEx will ship a tire/wheel combo without a box, just wrap it good with shrink wrap and put a sturdy label on it.

I strapped 5 35's down to a palat and shipped tham from CO to TX. You would just have to contact a freight company about a price. They will usually pick up at your address.

I wheel'd 5 tires/wheels right in the front door of the Fed-Ex office. They slapped a shipping label on each one and that was it. I think it was aprx $200. Good luck with the sale.

not offroad tires, but ive shipped a few tires via fedex and ups.

fed ex was cheaper.

if you ship the rims with the tires, i suggest cutting out a brown box circle to cover the rim to keep from prying eyes.

IIRC I also wrapped 5 tires using that plastic ceran-like shipping wrap stuff around it with a round cardboard insert in each to protect the wheels. But I recommend the palatte method too.

I shipped using DHL because I was told they were cheap, and they definitely were, it was like $80-100 for all 5 factory Sahara tire+wheels.

Although, wasnt DHL just recently bought out by another company?

I don't know about that, but DHL is pulling out of the US, they won't do any US to US address delivery anymore.

I didn't ship but got mine 5 KM's (no rims) shipped from TireRack for $250 shipped to Canada. But that also included duty.

Default Discount Tire

I (unfortunately) have given Discount Tire a lot of business and have asked if they could help with shipping a set of wheels that another forum member was interested in purchasing. They gave me a quote of $214.00 from Tucson, AZ to Charlotte NC. Don't know if that helps, but it was cheaper for me than either Fed Ex or UPS and Discount would take care of the packaging.

Thanks for the responses. Whats interesting is the buyer and I have called a few of the places you mentioned and they were upwards of $400 now. I was given a name of a freight company called Forward Air. They ship from their dock, to their dock in a diff city. So, I had to drop them off, and the buyer has to pick them up. Anyway, 1 pallet and it came to 479 lbs... $145.01... Not bad. Thanks again for the reply's.
