It will suck if they put one in '09, because when they announce it I'll be saying "had I known, I would have waited".
This really does look like a 'feeling out' by Jeep/Dodge, so it woudn't surprise me..

x2 Vtec pwns all j00s....
I would take the V8 IF it did not increase the price by a lot. I will agree with a 2 door 35" tires and AC on interstate driving can suck so i dont want to imagine with the weight of 4 door, a more powerfull V6 would be really nice.

I don't much care what engine configuration the Jeep gets. Just want a nice broad power band, rock solid reliability and decent fuel efficiency. It could be a I6, V6, V8, diesel…
A big electric motor would probably be perfect for crawling. The extension cord would have to be really long though.

anyone know what the 3.7L V6 magnum engine puts out thats in the Dakotas? I know jeep went to the 3.6 V6 partcially for cost because that engine is used already in other Chrysler cars, i just wonder if Chrysler has a better V6 for the application we use the jeep for. Seems most everyone agrees, more torque off road, more power on the highway getting to your off road spot

210 hp @ 5000 RPM
235 ft-lbs @ 4000 RPM
3.8L
202 hp @ 5000 RPM
237 ft-lbs @ 4000 RPM
I read somewhere that the torque curve for the 3.8 more closely matched the 4.0 and that is why they chose to put the 3.8 in the JK's.
I am happy with the 3.8, of course I am coming from a YJ with a 4 banger where a small breeze stopped me in my tracks on the highway.

thanks for the quickness, i did a quick online search but couldnt specs of the engine. So i guess that trade wouldnt be worth much unless the power curve was alot diffrent.
