Oh for sure. Bu it certainly will at least give a much better distance between you and the animals. I remember when I did the 2 weeks Safari expedition. we slept with rifles ready. And I remember the guide asked us if we wanted some sleeping pills for more restful sleep... It was more of restful death while you sleep if anything attacks us.

I've been camping on a regular basis for 38 years. I have NEVER EVER had a reason why I needed to be 8 feet off the ground.
However I'd love to get my hands on an Australian SWAG!!!

I really like the trailer option. We (wife and myself) have been toying with the idea of a pop-up variety. What advantages of something like that trailer version over a traditional pop-up trailer? I suppose offroading would be easier than pulling the traditional pop-up type, but what other reasons are there?

a friend of mine has one because some of the beaches they use to go to you were allowed to camp but couldnt sleep on the beach, you slept in the vehicle or trailer or a rooftop tent.

i've camped on the ground my entire life...........and i will for the rest of it i bet...... but i would rather be in the air in a heart beat. The ground can be wet/damp. In some areas, scorpions and spiders will crawl inside at every chance along with snakes and what other animals that can roam about at ankle level that i would rather not mess with. plus in the summer it can be cooler with the breezes being up higher. i spent many nights with a mysterious root shoved in my back that i swore wasnt there when i cleared the ground for the tent. i still like basic tents on the ground for camping. but if i was doing a expedtion type trip or cross country camping trip the roof top tent is priceless to me. i would get one for sure.
