Default What's with all the CLEAN engine compartments??

Ever notice all the nice JK's ... including Rubicon's ... on Craigslist and eBay? Most of them have engine compartments that look like they just rolled off the assembly-line. After wheeling just a few times including some Mud and Forging ... my engine compartment looks like crap even after pressure washing it! Just goes to show that probably only 1% of JK's sold actually go off-road ....

I clean mine every so often when I wash it. I usually use engine brite...looks pretty good, even after a day of playing in mud

Hmmm ... have to try that. Georgia Red clay has pretty much stained every hose and piece of rubber under my hood ...

With the Oregon mud it takes 2+ cans of foaming engine bright or similar stuff to get the engine even remotely close to off-the-lot condition.

Does the Tire Shine make it easier to Clean Up after getting dirty? Maybe the trick is to detail it prior to packing it full of mud ???

Great info here. I've got to try these tips when I go to clean my engine compartment.
