Yeah well...that part wasn't my fault. As long as the oil you use meets or exceeds the required API specs, you're all good. Even if it's Wal Mart brand oil. Because it all has to pass the same testing to get that certification. Dammit all.

Castrol syntec 5w-20 and K&N oversize filter. Change about every 3,000 miles.

Well I just put in my first Motorcraft filter. All the others (Mobile 1 and Purilator) I tried had dry starts and several people said this filter prevented that, time will tell I suppose.

So does it have to be synthetic to pass the Mopar test requirements?

thanks !
I switch brands, (Mobil-1, Syntec, or Rotella) always synthetic, and change every 10k!!! Have done this on the last 7 vehicles, never had a problem. Have a 98 Civic with 150k on it still running fine.

Mobile 1 synthetic, mopar filter. After stopping at 3 places to get the filter, I decided to go to the dealer. Got the premium filter for about $6. Stocked up 3 more while I was there.

No. They don't come with synthetic. I figure if they needed it they would, so why waste the money?
