Default What should be my first mod?

hey everyone.

This site is so great.. and all the jeeps on here are a great inspiration for helping me make my Sahara the perfect Jeep for me.

I have had it for about 4 months. Its still completely stock except for a set of rubicon sliders I got used from someone nice an cheap - I know they arent the beefiest.. but if they save me on just one hard hit... then they were worth it to me.

But with everyones experience.. what would you consider to be the best first mod (what did you do - what would you do different). Money is DEFINATELY the # 1 factor. We definately will wheel it.. but until Im not making a car payment on it anymore.. Im not gonna be doing anything (on purpose :toung: ) that could do some REAL damage.

If its a lift.. (which is what I personnaly want) it cant be too big cuz I cant afford new tires.... And I dont want to get new tires till I can afford to get new rims and change out the stock 18s.

For what Im gonna be doing in it.. what would you think would be the best way to spend my money. Your opinions please!

I wish I could do more to it.. but its definately gonna take some time to build this jeep up.

If money is an issue and your not going to do anything that would damage the vehicle then stock suspension, tires, wheels is FINE.

Get a bikini top 100$, husky floor mats 60-70$ x3 (front, middle, rear), seat covers 250$x2 (front&rear).

Thats part of my wishlist at quadratec.com.

I voted for suspension, I love my teraflex 2.5 BB. It was cheap, easy to install, works great, and complete. It my favorite mod so far, next to drilling the mirrors

Although wheeling it stock for awhile is also a great choice, especially when you are on a limited budget. It gives you a chance to learn what it can already do and what you want to do with it before you waste your money on something you might not use...... However, why should you be any different then the rest of us!? Start moddin now!

My first mods will be a good front bumper, rear bumper, then a winch. After that I plan on a lift then tires.

Reasoning behind this is to get additional jack\tow points and recovery ability first off. Plus, I figure that 1.5-2 years on the stock tires, then will need replacement. I hate to replace tires that are new, etc..

i voted CB, a lot of clubs require one to run with them. also, i suggest an oil pan / tranny skid. there is one out there, but it seems expensive for what it is.

The very first mod I would recommend is recovery gear:

Jeep JK Wrangler Trail Recovery Gear Essentials

Great idea on the recovery gear... I have some stuff from taking my truck out 4 wheeling. I have a nice strap I got from the Army Navy store in town thats rated at 10,000 lbs with nice leather loop ends (this has come in handy a lot already pulling people out.. the only problem is that its too short and that can be kinda scary). My sahara came with front and rear hooks, and if I do put a tow package on my JK... I have a reciever shackle set up on my truck right now I can take along.
