When the day comes I'll go either the windshield or bumper route. There are way too many trees around here to have anything extra sticking up over the roof line.

Also, bumper lights are generally legal to use on the highway with your driving beam. What would I want lights all over my roof for? I'd never use them, in BC they'd need to be covered all the time (lights can only be 1.05 or so meters up or must be covered), and they are liable to get broken by low branches that otherwise just slide over my roof (or whack me on my head if the top is down).
