Default WHAT does it TAKE?!?!?!?!?!

What does it take to get a proper repair? This is after trip number TWO in as many weeks for an oil leak. Got the timing cover replaced. Now the engine is leaking 10 times as bad. Let the pics speak for themselves:

Starting from the lower bell housing area, passenger side:

Moving along the passenger side toward the front of the engine:

And now for the "pizza resistance" as we say where I'm from. Check out the middle of this pic. This is at the very driver's side front of the oil pan rail. See that hole where an oil pan bolt is SUPPOSED to be? Guess what it's filled with? SILICONE SEALER. This is how I got my Jeep back from a FIVE STAR DEALER, folks.

Another shot of the missing bolt:

Yall think I'm an asshole on this forum sometimes?? I WISH you could be at the dealer when I take this back in the morning. 3:09 AM, EST, and THIS is why I can't sleep. Talk about PISSED OFF.

I would be pissed too, keep in mind though you will probably get farther with them if you are firm in letting them know you are not happy, but in a polite sort of way. Good luck, I hope it gets fixed right this time!

Oh ya, I hate it when I can't sleep too. Makes any problem worse!

I am going to do my DAMNDEST to remain calm. The thing is, it ain't leakin a drop from the oil filter area now, which is where it was leaking before.

So technically they fixed the original leak right?

You might want to try a new dealer after you get this situation rectified. And I agree, do your best to remain calm but firm, they will likely offer something as repentance for this kind of work.

EDIT- Oh, and if you get any survey opportunities I would let them have it.

Took the Jeep BACK in this morning. Point out everything and believe it or not, I held my composure. It was tough. They apologized profusely, and offered up a rental car. They also said that since the bolt was broken off on the oil pan adapter that they were going to just replace the entire adapter. We'll see.

It appears that cooler heads previal. I can only hope when it comes to it that I can do the same.

Fortunately the only issue I have had was with a piece of trim on the door behind the mirror. Of course it has to be ordered, so things i have went well so far.

I have always approached any problems with the service department of any dealers, in a quiet peacefull tone. I never take the attitude that I know whats wrong. I just describe the problem enough for them to look in the general area that seems to be a concern to me.
I have always been invited out into the car bays to talk to the mechanics. Playing the " know little about Jeeps" game has had an advantage. If a mechanic feels he knows more than you , he will want to play show and tell of whats wrong and what needs to be required to fix the problem.
The best relation you can have with any dealership will include staying with the vehicule as it's being repaired.
This has always worked for me.

Got a call from the dealer today. They got the oil pan adapter AND oil pan replaced. Seems they come together. It's still leaking, however it is coming from a different place now than when I originally took it in. I am left with one of two thoughts. Either the mechanic caused a new leak, or the new timing cover was one of the old defective part numbers and has porosity in a different location than the original. I still have a rental at their expense, so I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
