My uncle, who has been with WIX for 25+ years says Fram is the absolute worst filter on the market. WIX makes OEM for Mack, Caterpillar, Deere, etc. All of NAPA's private labeled filters are WIX too.

Wal-Mart SuperTech (Champion) or Napa Gold (Wix) or Mobil 1 for me. I've occasionally used Bosch in the past.

I swore by Purolator Pur One until I saw one come out of my Pontiac Solstice with the filter element beginning to disintigrate. It had less than 5,000 miles on it. (The GM Ecotec engine uses a cartridge filter that has no outer casing.) The only other filter I've used on that engine is the Wal-Mart. I ran one for at least as long as the Pur-One and it showed no signs of a problem. Plus, they filter well on the SAE multi-pass test.

i ve never had a problem with walmart stuff. the only thing is in my dads f-150 when we put super tech in it it leaked oil like a sive! then he went back to havoline (he has been a mechanic at a texaco for 25 years till they went under) and the leaks went away. he thought that they might not of been made with the same additives as other oils and that it might be thinner or have different qualities that made it leak. dunno, my dad is very technical.

Default Oil Filter

Mobil 1 filter and Valvoline synthetic. Mobil and K & N filters are very well constructed. Several websites show the differences between filters. I also run an oversized filter for peace of mind.

Mobil 1 filter--because there's a larger one that fits the JKs. There's another thread here with the PN.

Since I got 8 free oil changes when I bought the JK I am stuck with the MOPAR for awhile, but after that I will switch to synth and the Mobile filter.
