Default What is the best oil filter?

What brand oil filter do you use?

I found this study that may help. The information has not been updated for a while but it looks like good information.

The best brand for a NO hassle LIFETIME warranty is the Jeep/Mopar oil filter.

Im happy with mobil 1 filters. I have also had good luck with Fleetguard and wix over the years too. The only one I would not reccommend is fram. I have personally seen two fram cases split and the local advance auto has seen at least 6. These were all on deisel trucks, but I still wont use them on anything . Arent the mopar ones rebranded fram's?

I'm partial to the K&N Performance Gold Oil Filter (Part #HP-1002). I have used K&N filters on my past three or four vehicles...GREAT filters, with no downsides I can see.

do you know why frams split? because they use a cardboard element that filters the oil, and a pressure spring to keep the oil through the filter. when the filter gets dirty it closes (or opens can t remember exactly) to BYPASS the oil straight through the filter and back through the engine! it is like having no filter!!!!!! insane isn t it. i had a buddy tell me this who works at fram plant and also many engine builders. personally i would use the factory filter. but i really like k&n filters, and also napa's gold filter. i run the napa gold on my f-150 prstreet truck that is making 400 hp. never had any problems and i have a uncle inlaw who runs the gold on his ford 408 stroker that makes 600 hp, and his buddy uses the gold on his 351 W which makes 500 hp. so what does that tell you?

DON T USE FRAM!

That's an interesting link. I learned stuff. Sounds like MOPAR uses a number of different manufacturers (one being FRAM). In the conclusion it sounds as though we will be fine as long as we stay away from FRAM.
