Weight capabilities of roof top racks.
Anyone have an idea about a roof rack rack capable of more the 300 lbs?? Most I have seen can hold that much. (Gobi - 300, ARB - 350, etc.)
The reason I am looking is for a roof-top tent. When you put my 350 lbs, and the wives weight and the tent weight, along with a 75 lb german shepard, it equates to alot of weight around 800 lbs or so.
Thanks

Get the Rugged ridge - I did - it will outlast civilisation! LoL
G'Day Viperpilot611
I too am a big guy 6'4 and I wanted a strong roof bar system to take me and the missus + 100lb tent , TV, Computer air cooler etc so I bought the rugged ridge lighting bar - it is totally awesome it is sooooo strong -
I could not find a rear bar that I liked or could all my weight etc so I designed my own built it and had it powder coated so i looks like a bought 1
I mounted my tent on the front of the roof bars so the majority of the tent would be supported by the jeep - I would not feel confident to haul my lard ass up the tent and rely on only the ladder to support the rear half of the tent!
I have had 3 big people on my roof bars & no problem at all
I hope you get something sorted - cheers Hunty

Something else to consider when looking at load restrictions is how the rack is mounted. If you are trying to stay on the safe side a rack that mounts to a flat surface is likely going to be a little stronger than something that is mounting to the side of your Jeep. Our patented interior brackets transfer all the load to the tub of the Jeep and does not put any stress on the body. The hard top is merely there as a medium between laser cut brackets and does not provide any of the strength with our roof racks.
I am sure you would be very happy with the MBRP roof rack from a durability and strength stand point.

I've got the Kongo cage and rack and it says it holds 500 lbs.
I read a post a while ago, some guy on the forum had a rack that holds 1000lbs. I can't remember which rack that was.

^^ the MBRP could most likely hold 1000lbs easily. I climb all over the Jeep when strapping stuff down to mine and I can't even come close to moving it or bending it. It's SOLID.
