Question Ways to identify options on 2012's - VIN and eyeballs?

The day I can start looking for one is coming faster...but sadly still months away. I think by the time I can actually go 2012 Wrangler shopping I won't be able to order one any more. Won't be until late July at the soonest.

Good is that probably means "get these off the lot" sales.
Bad is that means picking through no AC having, 3.21 gear having, $4000 of fluff options having Wranglers to find the good stuff.

I'm wanting an automatic, 3.73 gears, and air conditioning for sure. Some of the listings I'm finding from dealers on AutoTrader, Craigslist, AutoRV, and even their own websites suck. Poor descriptions, bad pictures, etc. However a lot of them list VIN numbers. I swear I saw someone on here referencing a way to use the VIN on some website (I believe official Chrysler/Jeep/MOPAR) to get the "build sheet" options of the vehicle.
Am I crazy or does this exist? If so, can someone please point me to it?

Also, regarding AC, is there any easy visual way to distinguish the climate controls of a non-AC vs with AC Wrangler? Lots of the ads have shots of the center stack but I'm not sure what I'm looking at most of the time.

What I was doing when I was looking around was using the jeep window sticker pdf thing.

Just replace the vin# with the jeep you're looking at... this is just some random jeep...

Thanks!

Is there a main page for that link? Something formal? Having trouble with one slightly used '12 a local dealer has but starting to think they have the VIN wrong.

Unfortunately, no. I just go to a jeep dealer's site and use the "view window sticker" link, and that's what it comes up with...

Yeah. Most of the dealers around here have that link but several have either generic (and often for older years) window stickers or they don't pull up correctly.

I did just run a different jeep using the cut and paste method and it worked fine. I think the used one has the wrong VIN down.

Hrmm, I just put my VIN number into it and it doesn't work...

I remember it used to work for up to 2-3 years but it looks like it might not anymore.

Hmmm...maybe they only keep the last couple years worth of vehicles in there? That alone would be over 500,000 VIN's.
