Default Water in engine compartment

Friend of mine was driving a four door '08, automatic, went through some deep puddles and the Jeep shut down, dash stayed lit up, put in park, then went to start and all that was heard was a click when he turned the key fwd.

Anyone else have their '08 with auto through deep water as of yet?

Thoughts?

Kevin

Sounds possible that he may have hydro locked the engine.

remove teh spark plugs and turn the engine over, see if there is any water in the cylinders. If there is, well you might want to consider the hemi swap.

Default Covered by insurance??

There's water in the air intake, meaning the air filter is soaked...it shut right off after going through the puddle, hmmm hope it's not cooked..we'll see..

For those that have had experience with this... is it covered by insurance?

I heard it is...minus the deductible ofcourse..

Chrysler won't cover it and you can't blame them.

Default engine

Engine's toast, new one on order...

Word to the wise, don't splash water through puddles...that intake will take it all right in like a vacuum..

Sure sorry to hear that. Man....this seems to happen quite a bit. And me having this CAI sure makes me think about a snorkel. That River Raider sure looks nice. How deep of water did you go/try to go through??? Do you think it got into the intake from being submerged or just spashed up from the radiator fan??? I just want to know how much water it actually takes to do this???
